Frosty mornings & how to weatherproof your skin this winter.

This post in sponsored by Bioderma. I like doing posts that highlight good products! All opinions in this post are my own.
Well, winter is here and to be honest so far this year, it has been fairly mild. We have had a few very chilly nights – but nothing crazy cold! But the wind – gosh the wind some days is very icy!
We did get 2 consecutive frosts the other week, so our grass is looking a little less green but I have to admit, I love frosts. They are so pretty & kind of the closest thing we get to snow here in QLD, so I love to slip out early in the morning in my granny gown and photograph them. (I am positive my neighbours think I am nuts!)img_7916img_7912img_7915

I’ve noticed my hands get super dry in the cooler months, especially on the cold chilly mornings after I hang our laundry out on the clothesline for the day. My thumb actually got so dry I got a painful deep crack in the corner of it near the top of the nail! OUCH!
I tried so many things to fix it & nothing would, I was so frustrated with it – so painful & awful.
And then like some wonderful & strange coincidence I got sent a package of Bioderma products suited for dry skin.

In the pack was the Bioderma Atoderm range & I will be honest – I was skeptical, I’ve tried many “dry skin” products and none really work for me.
But this stuff did! And really well!
LuLu & I both tend to get dry & red patches on our faces if we are out in the cold wind too long & 1 application of the Atoderm intensive balm after our showers is all we need, because when we wake up in the morning, our skin is back to normal! And the intensive balm is suitable for the whole family, from our little baby to my husband.
(I have used the intensive balm on my face & body, and it hasn’t caused my skin to break out at all like some other creams tend to! And I have used it on Tommy, it’s very gentle & his dry skin healed quickly.)
The Atoderm intensive balm is enriched with soothing & purifying agents that help to restore the skin to a healthy & comfortable state with the 2-in-1 soothing & dermo-strengthing treatment. It calms irritation and works to restore the skin barrier & nourish the skin.

(The Atoderm Range can also be used to treat atopic skin conditions, such as Eczema, during flare-up periods.)

We are all enjoying the Atoderm restorative lip balm & we’ve managed to avoid any nasty dry & chapped lips and I believe it is thanks to this lip balm!

Now my absolute favourite product out of the range was ultra repair hand cream. This product is so beautiful, it has a really light clean scent I adore & it feels so good on and isn’t oily at all like some other hand creams can be! And it helped heal my thumb!
This range of products has truly surprised me & I encourage you to check it out if you suffer from dry skin, lips or hands. It is absolutely incredible & something we will be purchasing.

A box full of beauty. {Review}

This product talk is brought to you by Nuffnang & bellabox.
Hello!
Ok, lets be honest for a few minutes, I love being a Mum, I do – it is my calling, it is my passion – I adore my life. But sometimes and just for the tiniest split second I miss having more alone time, I normally feel this way when I am buying the same beauty products because I know “what works” & I just don’t have the energy or desire to try & test out a bunch of new things with a toddler. I miss being able to walk up and down the aisle of the beauty stores leisurely & at my own pace, testing out all different products, finding new & exciting releases and walking away with a nice little haul.

LuLu is a great little shopping companion, but understandably she isn’t fussed on waiting around for me while I sniff, spray & test out new products she isn’t allowed to touch – heck Trent even gets annoyed when I take to long looking at beauty products. But I have found away to get my fix for testing out new products without even leaving my house!
That’s right, without leaving my house. Testing new beauty products in the comfort of my pjs while sipping tea. That’s right there is a saviour for all of us time poor beauty lovin’ Mummas, let me show you the light girls…
In case you’ve been living under a rock & have never heard of this genius idea, let me tell you about bellabox.

bellabox is Australia’s #1 monthly beauty box, it is a subscription service that is delivered to your door jam packed full of specially selected beauty goodies for you! Some are full size & some are sample size. I love this idea, this is brilliant for people who can’t always get to the shops & simply who don’t have the time to waste in the beauty aisles, like me. You get these products to test out at your own time & if you love what you’ve got, you can repurchase them when you are ready.
Now what you get in your bellabox is normally built for you from your profile, but this month they are offering a special deal. You can get the exact same box as I have, which I absolutely love.
I really honestly do like this box & I got 3 full sized items and they are great quality. In my opinion receiving 3 full-sized products from a monthly subscription service is pretty rare, so I am over the moon at this.
This offer is only available until June 17th 2015 and is only for new members. The cost is $17.95 (includes P&H).
Normally the bellabox is an adorable turquoise coloured spotty box, but in June it will posted out in a very sweet slightly larger brown box only due to the fact that the bodywash is such a large size they had to use bigger packaging!

 For $17.95 you get 3 really nice & full size beauty products & 2 sample sized products.

All wrapped up pretty.
My wonderful little treat of beauty goodies!!
  • Universal Beauty Cosmetics Tint Stick (This product is full sized and vegetarian friendly & cruelty free. I got the colour Nude Pink which hopefully is easily wearable, it says that it has 10 hours of anti-feathering wear and is transfer proof. Keep an eye on my Instagram for a mini-review.)
  • Original Source Body Wash (This is another full sized sample & a vegan product. I received the watermelon & jojoba oil skin quench one & it smells delightful!!)
  • Burt’s Bees Lip Balm (I love this product, I actually was just kicking myself the other day for forgetting to pick a new one up at the store, thankfully I got one today in my bellabox!)
  • Aveda Damage Remedy hair treatment. (There are no directions on this sample sized tube but after some research this is a treatment that you leave in your hair for 2-5 minutes and then wash out. I love hair treatments & am excited to try this one, but I have a lot of hair so hopefully this tube is enough for at least 1 treatment!)
  • Jean Patou 1000 Eau De Parfum sample.

I am super happy with this box, it has 5 great products in it and is a great starting box for anyone interested in starting to receive monthly a bellabox. Please note this specific box is only available for a limited time & is only available to new members & only available by the link found on this page.
So if you would love to receive this exact box check out bellabox.
This is product is also a wonderful gift idea, especially for a new Mum, because who wouldn’t want a box of really nice beauty goodies showing up on your doorstep once a month. But hey Mumma friends treat yo’ self, buy it for you because you deserve it – getting this adorable little blue box once a month is like giving yourself a monthly present and you deserve a monthly present & everyone loves getting mail that isn’t bills & is a parcel!
Please note that this is a monthly subscription service that costs $17.95 (includes P&H) a month & you get at least 5 amazing beauty related products each month from local & international brands delivered to your door for you to try in the comfort of your own home & at your own time. You can cancel the subscription at anytime. After this month the products you receive will be specially selected for you based on your profile. To sign up for bellabox you do need a credit card or PayPal (I always use PayPal when shopping online) but you can cancel at anytime!

D.I.Y body scrub. {Very Easy}

Hello!
The other day I had the urge to make my own body scrub, so I did – with a few basic ingredients I had at home.

I thought I would share the recipe with you all…

Ingredients;

  • Epsom salts (Some of its benefits are that it is great for relaxing the body & easing stress. It helps relieve muscle pain & cramps & also helps removes toxins from your body!)
  • Coconut oil (Very hydrating for skin – it has countless benefits!)
  • Essential oil (optional)
  • Rose petals (optional)

Directions;
(Once again I am hopeless and did not measure out my ingredients, I kind of just eyeball everything until I reach my desired consistency, so I did some research and found these measurements are commonly used in similar recipes, or you can just experiment and add bit by bit until you get the consistency you love!)

  1. Add 2 cups of coconut oil
  2. 1  cup of epsom salts
  3. Add essential oils to your liking.
  4. Mix together.
  5. Add in rose petals if you wish. (I had some rose petals from my Valentines Day flowers so I chopped them up and added them through the scrub! They don’t really do anything in my opinion except make it look a bit pretty!)
  6. I actually blitzed my scrub through my stick blender for a few seconds just because I didn’t have time to stir it all together by hand – it still has a good coarse texture, but be careful if you use your stick blender that you don’t over do it because the salt could be broken down.
  7. Add to a jar or air tight container.
  8. Pamper yourself!! 🙂
This recipe is great because you can make a ton of it and use them as gifts or even just make a new one for yourself every fortnight, that box of Epsom Salt is huge and lasts forever!
I really loved this scrub and it totally surprised me how nice it made my skin feel! It was a totally random moment for me to make it & I am so glad I did. I have used it a few times since I made it and it makes my skin feel nice, I also found it helped clear up a few skin irritations I had.
The salt exfoliates yours skin perfectly and the coconut oil leaves your skin feeling so incredibly soft and smooth.
You can use this just as a foot or hand scrub but I use it as an all over body scrub!
So treat yourself, grab these super basic ingredients, throw it all in a bowl, mix together, pop it in the jar and treat yourself tonight!
Enjoy.
